After the
1999 general elections, various Guatemalan mayors solicited a strategic
information service from Inforpress in order to improve the administration of
their municipalities. This request was converted into a project directed at
providing the 331 municipalities in Guatemala with information and analysis
related to decentralization, international cooperation, and political
intelligence concerning the activities of the National Congress and
Executive. The service also includes a Direct Line, which allows subscribers
to solicit specific investigations from Inforpress. |

In May 2002 Inforpress began to work with small coffee producers to comercialize their product. The goal of this project is to minimalize the intermediaries between the producers and the consumer. By doing this, we help the producers receive a higher income for their product, while at the same time strengthening the organization of coffee growers. The coffee is grow by the Association of Progressive Integral Development of San Agustín, El Progreso (ADIPSA). It is qualified as high altitude coffee and is cultivated on the slopes of the multiple-use zone of the Sierra de las Minas biosphere reserve.
